Our situation

Everyone, please keep us in prayer. We go before the social worker and regional director of the agency tomorrow that has told us they will not approve our home study.

We will learn why and, more importantly, we will learn if this is a formal and completed home study rejection. If this is a formal and completed home study rejection; we will not move forward from this point.

IF this is a review of our case thus far to say their concerns are to mounted for them to approve us in the long run and will leave our study incomplete; we will seek another agency to work with (matter of fact, I already have--but I have to admit I feel no more confident than before I called them).

God's will is all we want to accomplish and live. Maybe we were meant to be a vessel for Alexander and his funds to help another family along (and there is a family willing to step in---they contacted me over this past month). I know adoption is not easy and our road has been rough. We were moving very quickly with all other paperwork and checks needed. Who knows? I don't. But MY God does. I am sure He will work this out in His own perfect timing and ways.

I may never hold Alexander in my arms but I will forever hold him in my heart if that is the case. I love him, I do. That is my only fault here. God loves him too, this I am sure of. These are not the words of a defeated woman, these are the words of a woman wanting to follow Him--no matter the outcome.

The calm before the storm

I will post more tomorrow. Pray for us now, please.

Isaiah 45:1-3

My prayer for the Davis Family and Kirill today.

Isaiah 45:1-3

1 “This is what the LORD says to his anointed,
to Cyrus, whose right hand I take hold of
to subdue nations before him
and to strip kings of their armor,
to open doors before him
so that gates will not be shut:
2 I will go before you
and will level the mountains;
I will break down gates of bronze
and cut through bars of iron.
3 I will give you hidden treasures,
riches stored in secret places,
so that you may know that I am the LORD,
the God of Israel, who summons you by name.

AND IN RUSSIAN

Исаия 45;1-3

 1Так говорит Господь помазаннику Своему Киру: Я держу тебя за правую руку, чтобы покорить тебе народы, и сниму поясы с чресл царей, чтоб отворялись для тебя двери, и ворота не затворялись;
    2Я пойду пред тобою и горы уровняю, медные двери сокрушу и запоры железные сломаю;
3и отдам тебе хранимые во тьме сокровища и сокрытые богатства, дабы ты познал, что Я Господь, называющий тебя по имени, Бог Израилев.

FASTING, PRAYING FOR KIRILL

This is a copied blogpost from http://aplacecalledsimplicity.blogspot.com/2011/03/will-you-join-us.html and the blogs author, a gal named Linny.

Will You Join Us?
If you have been hanging around our Place Called Simplicity for any length of time,
you know how important prayer and fasting is to me.

Why is that?

Cause God's word says that there are some things that just don't happen without prayer and fasting.

But why does God do things like that?

I frankly have no clue, but I suspect that it has something to do with the body of Christ joining together for a common cause. Scripture is filled with verses about unity and the importance of it.

Remember Queen Esther {who by the way was adopted - how sweet is that?} and how the Isrealite nation was about to be annihilated until she calls for a three day fast? Remember how God moved and spared the nation of Isreal? Remember?

Since I started asking my bloggy friends to join in days of prayer and fasting, many, many, many of you have written and said that you have seen your life change as a result. And many, many, many of you had never fasted before!! Your letters have encouraged my heart - there is no doubt that God moves when people fast.

So sweet friends, let me tell you what is going on....

On the other side of the world {in Russia} there is a little boy....
Photobucket

His name is Kirill.

Kirill was found by his mommy and daddy on an adoption list. They worked feverishly to get all his paperwork in so they could bring him home. And during that time of working to bring Kirill home they found that Kirill is the first child from his region in Russia EVER to be adopted with Down Syndrome.

A birth mother keeping her child with DS is unheard of in this area of the world. Adoptions of children with DS just don't happen in this region, these children are literally hidden away from society in orphananges and mental institutions. As it turns out Kirill would be a pioneer. If Kirill's adoption was approved, it would pave the way for other children with special needs to be adopted from this region as well.

And so just two weeks ago, Kirill's mom and dad were there in Russia headed to court to fulfill the necessary steps to bring Kirill home...

and they were loving on Kirill....

Photobucket

and after enduring five agonizing hours of difficult questioning before the judge...with strong statements on their behalf from two doctors, two social workers and the Minister of Children's Services fighting on their and Kirill's behalf...and prepared for the court's stamp of approval,

the Judge gave her ruling:

"Your application to adopt is rejected"

The Judges reasoning:
Photobucket
Kirill is "not socially adaptable" due to his "medical condition" and he is better off in an institution than in a home with a family. The Judge did state several times that Greg and Tesney were a good family, that they met all the criteria to adopt a child, but that she would not approve our adoption because Kirill has Down Syndrome. She told them that they could adopt another child, because legally our application had no problems according to Russian adoption law. She said she would approve their adoption for a 'typical' child, but not this child.

The ONLY reason?

Because Kirill has Down Syndrome.

{Home study approved and Immigration approved for a child with Special Needs}

BUT

and so here's where we come in...

I just can not believe for ONE second that Kirill is supposed to stay in an
institution in Russia for the duration of his life.

NOT A CHANCE.

Almighty God's heart is for the orphan and it is attentive to their cry.

Almighty God's heart longs for every child to be in a forever family.
"He sets the lonely in families" Psalm 68:6

Soooooo

If God's heart is for the orphan and He longs for every child to be in a forever family...then God wants to and will move to bring Kirill home.

But some things do not happen without prayer and fasting....

So I wrote to Tesney and asked if I could call for a fast on Kirill's behalf...

Her response:

Linny,

Yes! We would LOVE this...Wednesday is better for us; and it coincides with our appeal being filed at the Supreme Court. It should be filed on Tuesday of this coming week, so the Supreme Court will hopefully begin the review shortly thereafter.............and we are humbled and honored....
THANK YOU!

Would you be willing to join with us in a day of
prayer
and
fasting?
{possibly a meal, two meals, all day}

When:

Wednesday, March 30, 2011

Will you do battle on your knees for Kirill?
For the other families who are in the process of adopting treasures with DS from this same region....
one even going to court on Thursday for a daughter with DS...

Will you please pray {and fast}with me?

Please spread the word to every one you know
{Bible studies, small groups, bloggy friends, relatives, your children}
a world wide fast this Wednesday to set Kirill free!!

Giveaways and donations :)

Have I said lately how grateful I am? Thank you, THANK YOU!!!

I was sharing with my sister earlier today the growth in our funds lately, the shock I experienced when I realized our family sponsorship page jumped $2,800 in 3 hours--and this was after the Reece's Rainbow website had crashed due to traffic on the site. She asked, "Doesn't that make you happy?" I answered her honestly-- I said, "No. It scares me!" The sooner our money is in place, the sooner we can travel once our dossier is submitted and approved. The sooner the better--yet, I still get fearful from time to time. Don't worry, I am working on it.

God is MOVING. MOVING FAST! Thankfully, I can pray to Him about my fears. I have prayed this would move quickly; I have prayed for our fund to be full quickly. I should have been prepared for HIS speed, I humbly admit, I was not. I know time is of the essence for Alexander. And it obvious, God knows this too (duh!) Sometimes my naivety is humorous!  God has a timeline, a PLAN. I might as well buckle up, get ready and try to enjoy the scenery (even if it is flying by).

Our iPad2 giveaway is still running, our Scentsy Fundraiser will be ending in 4 days (THANK YOU, STEPHANIE), our Avon fundraiser will continue for another week, and The Picky Gal jewelry fundraiser on Etsy will run until---well, until AJ is on his way home (THANK YOU, AMBER!!!!!). On Friday, our Thirty-one fundraiser will begin (thank you, Christy) and more information will be coming on that one.

So would you like to support our family by donating and join our giveaway too? Here is the information on that one:

WILL YOU PRAY FOR KIRILL

Will you pray for Kirill?

The Davis family (Greg and Tesney and their oldest son) love Kirill VERY, VERY MUCH. They are adopting him from an Eastern European country and are in the fight for his life right now. The judge in his region of his country denied them their adoption plea. They are appealing the decision.

The reason?

"socially unadaptable" with reasoning that an institution (just like where Alexander is now) made him unworthy of a family. The judge did not have the wherewithal to stand up for Kirill against the prosecutor in the court that day, March 17th. They left him, heartbroken but steadfast in their faith in God and with love in their hearts for the woman that denied their baby a home.

They have asked for prayers for the judge, who has said she will not fight an appeal, and prayers for all involved in court during the appeal. They want to bring Kirill home, they love him. THEY LOVE HIM DEARLY.

Please. I beg you. PRAY. PRAY. PRAY. His life depends on it, he is WORTHY. All of the children we are fighting for ARE WORTHY.

Please re-post this, share this. Please do not slander the judge or this situation. Is it horrible? Yes, in my opinion it is. Is it wrong? In my opinion, yes it is. But slandering her or this situation will not help Kirill. PRAYERS will. COMPASSION will.

Thank you.

Donation links and dropped servers

Sorry everyone. We have been asked to take our donation links down for a short while. Apparently, all the awesome donations (to many families, not just ours) has caused the server for Reece's Rainbow to go down.

I have tried, unsucessfully, to register on the Chip-In site to put another box up.

PLEASE click on Alexander's picture to donate. I will update the page here once a day with new totals.

LAST CHECK OUR Family Sponsorship Page was at $3,852.60

The IT specialists that help Andrea with the Reece's website are working quickly to remedy the situation.

Amazing....

WOW!!!  As of 9:34 p.m. March 24, 2011 our FSP and personal savings combined have grown to a total of $5,000.60!!!!  When we started this journey into iPad2 giveaway-land, we had $1,347.60 in our account. God's graces have been amazing over the past 7 days. The support from the community at large from here and far is AMAZING.

I have families who have pledged to give GENEROUSLY in April, our iPad2 fundraiser runs through mid-April, our Thirty-one Fundraiser begins April 1st and Sonia will wrap up our AVON fundraiser on the 4th of April. On April 30th, we will round out the month with our Scrapbooking Crop too.

March has been awesome so far, and we aren't done yet. Tomorrow, March 26th, my dad will be 57 years old, a little girl of a friend of mine will be 3 and Amy V. is holding a charity yard sale fundraiser in Walla Walla, Washington--she is donating those profits to our fund.

I will be absent today from blogland and fundraising. My oldest is having his left eye operated on (again) in an attempt, yet again, to re-align his eyes. Jared has struggled with strabismus his whole life. This is an easy surgery, but surgery just the same. He does not like going in for surgery and complains about the drunken side-effects left behind from anesthesia. Good thing is I am well versed when it comes to strabismus, which will come in handy for Alexander. I believe he will need both of his eyes repaired also. Jared has had both eyes operated on once before, his right eye has been done twice and now his left eye will be done again. Here's praying this time sticks...and here's praying he is up for his Pinewood Derby Race tomorrow evening. He is so excited about his hotdog derby car Shawn made for him!!  I love it too, the car cracks me up every time I see it!!  LOL

Photobucket

If this is your first time here, scroll down to the post before this one and check out our iPad2 giveaway information....if you have been here before, will share our story and pray for us? And, please, donate if you can.

thank you Pictures, Images and Photos

iPad2 Giveaway (day 7)

One week ago today, we started this crazy adventure to giveaway an iPad2 to one lucky donor. (can I say it took me 5 tries to realize donator is not an word accepted by blogspot and I could not think of donor LOL)

Since then, we have been blessed and I, well, I have been HUMBLED. I am in awe of the people who are willing to come forward and give as they are able. I am reassured again and again, there are good people in this world.

Right now, I am going to name a few of them. Don't get me wrong, I am not putting them on a pedestal, I am not idolizing their works, I am not boasting in hopes of finding favor from God for what they have done. My God don't work that way. I am simply sharing the impact a few of these people have had on my son's life, my life, and my family's life.

Cathy T., Anna T., Julie K., Carolyn M., Amy V., Penny P., Deanna S., Angela M., Kelly T., Mallory T., the list goes on and on. When we were worried about space---Carolyn M. offered to try and put a contractor of sorts in contact with us. Carolyn also kicked off our fundraiser with a very, VERY generous donation. Cathy T. offered to ask a family member in our town to help out too. Cathy T. has also helped me plan for fundraisers online that have yet to come to fruition. Cathy is CHAMPIONING FOR MY FAMILY day in and day out. Julie K. offered to get an RV from Florida and DRIVE it back up to Indiana. Extreme? Yes, but we were scurrying! LOL

Penny, Cathy, Deanna, and Anna are just couple of my cheerleaders. I talk to Cathy via Facebook or text nearly daily. She is friends with Amy V.--Amy V. was raising money for the Higbie family this Saturday with a charity yard sale. Amy V. also donated the gorgeous sapphire pendant I won in the last push giveaway to bring Deanna's baby girl Melanie home. Now, because the Higbie family fund is FULL, Amy will be GRACIOUSLY donating that charity yard sale gathering to our fund.

I have shared some very intimate moments with Penny and Cathy--they are praying for us day and night. I cannot wait to meet Penny in person someday. I have been lucky enough to have met Cathy and Lily and Deanna and Ragen this past summer in Chicago. Julie and I talk in texts regularly and love to poke fun at each other (shoot even Cam is getting in on the fun these days). Now, Julie is adopting too and she is asking people to donate to our fund. How awesome is that?? JULIE ROCKS!

Angela M. is a dear friend of mine that I worked with in Chrysler who is selling candy to help raise money, Kelly T. and I have known each other longer than I care to admit (because that makes us sound OLD!) and Mallory is Kelly's daughter. I cannot tell you all that Mallory is doing for our family. This young woman has a heart on fire for Jesus and compassion for children born with Down syndrome; Mallory truly is a good apple.

I am so humbled by your works ladies, and humbled by the support everyone has shown us thus far. God is quick to remind me of these blessings and pushing my heart to share them with others in any way I can. I am trying.

Our iPad2 giveaway is one week old today and now thanks to Sonia B. we are adding an AVON fundraiser to the mix too. Just click on the AVON logo to the right here at the top of my blog be sure to put "4ALEX" in as the promo code so Sonia can track our sales--AVON fundraiser will last until April 4, 2011.

You can still order Scentsy through Stephanie's fundraiser for our family too!! We have just 7 days left for that fundraiser. Can I just say that the Perfectly Pomegranate scent is perfecty pom-wonderful? LOL I love it, Stephanie and you will be my got to gal for all my Scentsy needs from here on out!

Also, Amber T. is hosting a JEWELRY fundraiser for us. Just click on the Down syndrome Awareness Bracelet with the butterfly trinket on the right sidebar of my blog too (it's up near the top also) be sure to mention Christie Taylor with your order so Amber knows to send the donation here.

And if you are in Walla Walla, Washington on Saturday--stop by Amy V's place and give generously!! Shoot, you can just give her a hug for me and that will make me happy too :)

Now back to our regularly scheduled iPad2 giveaway programming

What Julie had to say just yesterday.

So I am copying this blogpost from my nettie bff, Julie. I love her. Why? I cannot really explain it. I have never met her face-to-face; I've only heard her voice once--but I love her as if we were raised together. Kai, Lilah and Peter are forever ingrained in my heart and soul, so is their momma. I helped lead Peter to her and I am so grateful I could be an instrument in that journey. She is still raising funds to bring Peter home too. Now, here is the blogpost she wrote just yesterday.

This link (just click on Peter's name) will take you to her blog about adopting Peter

Blogging for Alexander!

AJ is already in an institution. His mommy, my BFF, is working desperately to save him and get him out of there...every day is a day lost for AJ and all his skills and knowledge he has learned. It is likely that his days are now much more bleak than we ever thought the baby houses, or orphanages were.

Please help Christie and her family bring AJ home. Christie brought Peter to us and we are now trying to help bring AJ home to her. Christie and I were deeply connected by our two boys long ago on a little site called BBC and our friendship has flourished since then. It has mostly been Christie helping me through those tough days in the beginning when I didnt understand why working with Kai for 2 months straight on sitting yielded absolutely NO results and I declared my hatred for Down syndrome...Christie gently in only the way Christie can, told me...You know how much therapy I do with Joseph a week? NONE. I play with him. I play with all my kids. Wha?? I was stunned. You mean to tell me you dont spend 40 hours a week propping him over a drum to make him sit? LOL...So the ME in me let go a little, OK, a LOT, and I did what this crazy woman from Kokomo that I had never met told me to do.

I.Played.With.My.Son.

In a month he crawled. Another whatever he sat...out of order, of course! But it all went well from there. Weve had a few bumps, like food textures, but eh, we will get over them. Christie taught me how to let go of the anger and see my son as he was...a little boy. And once I did, my fire was lit. And will stay lit for my kids and for hers. The momma bear in me would come out just as strong for one of her boys as it does for my kiddos...so I will help her raise money to get her son home. If we didnt know each other I would not have found Peter and who knows how long it could have taken her to find Alexander in her plight to find someone for Peter? It's not my call...

Please please...if you are here to donate to my journey to bring Peter home, I ask you to give the money to AJ. AJ is in dire need to get home. Peter is too, but much of his grant is raised already, so please take your money to him. If you feel strongly about it, give most to AJ and the rest to Peter...give enough to at least qualify for the great giveaway of the iPad that Christie is sponsoring! Just click HERE and go see for yourself! Alexander needs to come home now!

This is the last picture of AJ before he was sent to the Adult Mental Institution...I hope that smile is still there.
