Day 8

If you are a new parent of a child with Down syndrome and you have stumbled across my blog, or if you are just wanting to know more about people with Down syndrome, please check out the National Down Syndrome Society or the National Down Syndrome Congress. After learning more from these sights, you might want to see if your state has a Down Syndrome foundation, for instance, Indiana's can be found here Down Syndrome Indiana.

Try and get in touch with other families if you can...we are out there :) If you have a prenatal diagnosis, ask your obstetrician or local pediatrician's office if they know of other families of a child with Down syndrome--chances are they do and they can speak with a family on your behalf and work to get you connected.

Also, search online support groups. Down syndrome, in my opinion, is not something to be afraid of, ashamed of, or weary of at all. Best wishes to you.

"I will go before you and will level the mountains; I will break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron. I will give you hidden treasures, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the LORD, the God of Israel, who summons you by name." Isaiah 45:2-3 (NIV)
