You see, Shawn and I were NOT looking to adopt. AT. ALL. Not right now anyhow. I was happy championing for other children. Praying for them. Donating when I could. Sharing stories every chance I got.
And then?
Well, then, ONE boy changed that for us.
ONE boy, across the seas, God used him to open our hearts to adopting now. This boy came to me via Lisa Warner in a video---she was asking me to share his story. Help find him a mommy and daddy like I had for Peter. I steadfastly agreed and in the middle of finding a way to download the video on my computer so I could share his story as we knew it---I felt the CALL of GOD to adopt.
I contacted Shawn in an e-mail! Yes, you read that right. E-mail. Nice, huh? Anyhow, I asked Shawn to pray over it and give me his answer when he was ready and I would not bother him again until he did. Well, answer me he did; he too believed we should begin the process to adopt. All because of ONE boy.
This ONE boy's story has grown and taken turns that are amazing. God has used him to soften our hearts to adopting, he has used him to reveal other children. He has used him to keep us plugging along even in the face of the shutdown. God has used this ONE boy to make us certain we are on the right track and adoption is the right thing for our family. Everything has a purpose.
I am grateful this ONE child is burned into my soul even though the future is uncertain---shutdowns, timelines, paperwork...yada, yada, yada.
Thank you God for Alexander and the difference ONE can make.

How is it that I get goosebumps every time you tell this story? It is amazing the difference one can make. Patti did that blog post and ever since then, I have been blogging. I blogged and some of my family members asked me about RR---they wanted to donate for Peter and AJ :-) Keep blogging and posting dear friend. It makes all the difference.
I get goosebumps, too!!! Christie, you make me smile. And you make me cry...in a good way. I LOVE YOU! I pray for you and for AJ all the time. I just want you to know that. We are cheering for your boy!
Great stuff! I just came in contact with your blog. Our son Noah was born with Down Syndrome on Dec 15, 2010. His extra chromosome was a surprise, but it's been great! In fact we do a daily one minute video every day to showcase his life to the world! Letting them see that our life is much more "normal" then "un-normal" -- it's been great! Keep up the good work!
Rick (Noah's Dad)
