Two weeks in a row

Woohoo! My family has made it to church two weeks in a row! Not an easy feat considering someone seems to always be too sick to go. Jackson has a cold and an ugly cough, so I am hoping he did not spread his icky germs too far today.

I have been attending my church for nearly 9 years. I have dedicated my children in this church. I have nursed babies in this church. I have cried, rejoiced and been convicted in this church. I have learned so much during the past 9 years. I have missed a LOT of church in the past 3.5 years.

I miss my church family, I miss the sermons but my connection to God has stayed steadfast. I have to say today's sermon was written and spoken as if it were directed straight at me. I was moved. I have a calling, a purpose designed by God. I have much to learn.

Before I knew you

I never knew what I was missing

I never knew love could be so pure

I never knew rolling over would make me cry

Before I saw your face

I never realized the beauty I was missing

I never realized how precious motherhood truly is

I never realized how my heart would swell in my throat when you cry

I was a mother once before you

But I was missing something

I think back now and wonder what your brother did

And what I shorted myself on during his infant years

Before you, a doctor never said, “I’m sorry”

Before you, a stranger never said, “I’m sorry”

Before you, those I thought were friends never said, “I’m sorry”

Before you, I never felt sorry for all of them

Before you I never knew what I was missing

Before you I was not a bad person or a bad mommy but….

I am a better person for the time that has come since you came to me.

For my sweet Joseph, you have taught your mommy so very much and I love you all the more for it.

My Blessed Child
My child, my love.
You are my gift.
The one I never dreamed of.

So sweet and pure
With a smile to light the room
when the world seems a blur.

I could hold you tight
And never let go
but then again...

I think I won’t
for that just wouldn’t be right.

You are a teacher, a mover,a mind-changer
You will likely never know a stranger.

47 chromosomes have made you blessed.
To change the world,
on our shoulders the task now rests.

For a little while longer
I will hold you close and show you the way. Then I will set you free
and then smile and say,

“Now go change the world my blessed child.”
