I hope I am not jinxing myself

So, Joseph has had near non-stop sinus/ear infections since he was born. He had some relief for about 15 months with his first set of tubes but once they began to fall out the infections came right back. The only month in the past year when he did not have an infection was the month he was on Clindamycin to treat his osteomyelitis.

I began digging deeper and deeper, researching possible treatment for my little man. Well, I found something I thought might help him and was happy to find a few other mom's of kids with Down syndrome using it too. I even asked one mom the specific dosage for the treatment.

I was prepared to ask our NP if she would prescribe the nasal saline spray compound for him if I could get all the information to her. She agreed. Joseph was treated the end of December for ear/sinus infection with Augmentin. Lo and behold, just 8 days after finishing treatment he was presenting with his tell-tell signs of yet another sinus infection. This worried me, normally we get 2 or 2.5 weeks of no signs of infection.

Well, we went in to see our NP and she prescribed Zithromax and wrote a script for the nasal spray and antibiotic compound. We finished up the Zithromax and on the 15th of January, I started using the saline spray daily. It is working!!! Even right now he has croup and a runny nose but he shows no sign of infection. That is 16 days, I pray this continues.

Some local moms have used a nasal suction machine with good results. I can get more info if you would like.
I hope the nasal spray works for Joseph. I had lots of sinus infections as a kid so I know how uncomfortable they are.

Thanks, Rachel. I have a NoseFrida for him and it works great.

What a relief! I am happy to hear that the nasal spray compound is working. Fingers crossed that it will continue to do so.
